Backstory
clearminds Launcher started as a very practical problem. A customer had gotten hold of a batch of meeting room screens locked to Android 7.1, and there simply was no off-the-shelf MDM that still supported a device that old in a way I trusted to put in production.
Rather than swap out perfectly functional hardware, I built the launcher from scratch: a focused kiosk shell with a built-in browser, per-device authentication for the loaded page, and the standard MDM deployment features needed to roll it out across a fleet of meeting rooms.
It later grew a lighter non-MDM mode for cases where you just need a tablet to wrap a QR code or a single web page reliably — same kiosk discipline, none of the MDM overhead.
